Bocket is a southern district of the municipality of Waldfeucht in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Heinsberg . The place has a kindergarten. The Bocketer Fließ rises on the northern edge of the village.

history

In 1276, Bocket was first mentioned in a document as a Bucholte , which means beech wood . In 1797 Bocket belongs to Mairie Waldfeucht in the canton of Heinsberg in the Département de la Roer . Bocket has been an independent parish since 1851.

Attractions

  • From 1877 to 1889, the parish church of St. Josef, a three-aisled, neo-Gothic building, was built according to plans by Lambert von Fisenne near a 16th century chapel on a filled-in maar. It houses a listed organ from 1892.
  • The steam mill at the eastern end of the village was built in 1752 as a post mill. It burned down in 1860 and, rebuilt, in 1870. The mill stump is preserved. A steam mill was operated here in 1852.
  • The Bocket windmill in Nordstrasse was built in 1840 as a tower windmill ("Erdholländer"). It was in operation until 1915. The mill stump is used for residential purposes.
  • There is also a radio museum in Bocket.
