Arnold Rademacher

Arnold Rademacher (born October 10, 1873 in Bocket near Aachen (today in Waldfeucht, district of Heinsberg), † May 2, 1939 in Bonn ) was a Catholic priest , professor , theologian and philosopher .

Life

Rademacher first attended the grammar school in Heinsberg , then the grammar school in Münstereifel . After graduating from Münstereifel on February 7, 1894, he studied philosophy and theology in Bonn from 1894 to 1897. He received in the August 15, 1898 in Cologne , the ordination . The first chaplain and teaching activity was in Elberfeld from 1898 to 1900. He then became Rendant and in 1903 Repetent at the Collegium Albertinum in Bonn. Besides, he studied philosophy and finally his doctorate on 13 September 1900 in Tübingen Dr. of theology.

In 1903 he was repetent for philosophy at the newly founded Collegium Leoninum in Bonn, of which he was director from 1907 to 1912. From 1914 to 1922 he was General Secretary of the Görres Society . On April 22, 1917 he was appointed professor of apologetics and philosophical introduction at the Catholic Theol. Faculty of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and on March 19, 1917 as professor. His only Extraordinariat existing chair was raised in 1919 to a professorship with him as a professor and director of the Fundamental Theological Seminary. Rademacher was Dean of the Catholic Theol from 1919 to 1920 and from 1927 to 1928 . Faculty. From 1928 to 1929 he was rector of the university.

As a fundamental theologian , he had a strong influence on the students Ernst Moritz Roth and Erich Stephany, for example . When in 1938 the wife of his colleague Paul Kahle , Marie Kahle , together with their son Wilhelm, were denounced on a leaflet as a traitor to the people because they stood up for persecuted Jews and that also triggered a disciplinary judgment by the university against the son, he was very close to the family to the side. After the winter semester of 1938/39 he retired , but Rademacher wanted to represent his subject until it was filled. On the day the lecture began, he died completely unexpectedly. He was buried in the Poppelsdorf cemetery. His grave is one of several graves of honor in the city in this cemetery.

Rademacher had been a member of the Academic-Scientific Association Renaissance zu Bonn (now KDB Rheno-Guestphalia zu Bonn in the RKDB ) since 1913 .
