Hontem is a southeastern part of the municipality of Waldfeucht in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Heinsberg . The place belongs to the parish Braunsrath .

history

In 1202 Hontem was first mentioned in a document together with Braunsrath as Huntheym , which means home of the Hunto. From 1797 to 1815, Hontem belonged to Mairie Braunsrath, which, like Mairien Haaren and Waldfeucht, belonged to the canton of Heinsberg in the Département de la Roer . Then the place came to the Prussian district of Heinsberg . In 1935 the Waldfeucht office was formed with the mayor offices of Braunsrath, Haaren, Saeffelen and Waldfeucht. In addition to Hontem, Braunsrath, Löcken , Obspringen , Selsten and Schöndorf also belonged to the mayor's office . On January 1, 1972, the municipality of Waldfeucht was formed from the office of Waldfeucht - except for Saeffelen. Hontem was incorporated into the town of Waldfeucht together with Braunsrath.
