The Sema-comb ( Russian Семинский хребет , Seminski Chrebet ) is a mountain range in the Russian Republic of Altai in the northwestern Altai Mountains .
The Sema ridge extends from the left bank of the Katun river in a westerly direction. To the south the mountains are drained by the Ursul . The rivers Sema and Pestschanaja arise on its northern flank . The mountain range has a length of about 120 km. The highest point is the 2506 m high Sarlyk (Сарлык). The mountains consist mainly of metamorphic rock . The mountain slopes are covered by forests consisting of larches , firs and Siberian stone pines . In the southern high altitudes there is scree tundra. The important connecting road R256 (formerly M52) runs over the 1894 m high Sema Pass .
