The Ursul ( Russian Урсу́л ) is a left tributary of the Ob source river Katun in the Russian Republic of Altai .
The Ursul rises in the west of the Republic of Altai, in the western part of the Terekta-ridge in the Altai Mountains . In the upper reaches the river is called Jelo ( Ело ). It flows in mainly eastern directions. From the place Jelo , at the confluence with the Kajerlyk coming from the south , the river bears its real name Ursul . It flows through the Ongudai Rajon and its main town Ongudai . After a total of 119 km the Ursul reaches the Katun and flows into it when coming from the left. The Ursul drains an area with an area of 3710 km² and has an average discharge (MQ) of 16.8 m³ / s at the Ongudai gauge at river kilometer 32 .
