Tropospheric radio center 301

Near the location of the Ministry of National Defense (MfNV) in Strausberg , one of three tropospheric radio centers of the strategic tropospheric communication system “BARS” of the Warsaw people was established in the mid-1980s on the highest geographic elevation near Bad Freienwalde (Oder) , the Semmelberg Contracting states established on the territory of the GDR . Her address read:

  • Berlin station
  • Tropospheric radio station Bad Freienwalde
  • Tropospheric radio station 301
  • Tropospheric radio center 301
  • Tropospheric radio center "TUSHURKA"
  • Support night center 301

For the installation of the troposphere radio center in Semmelberg, the geographical elevation was first removed, a concrete bunker shell with a surface area of approx. 30 m × 30 m, plus the ancillary facilities, and then the mountain over the bunker shell was raised again. This is how the Wollenberg bunker was created . It was designed for the installation of four sets of tropospheric radios. Taking into account the operational and strategic requirements and the financial and economic possibilities of the GDR, only three tropospheric radio sets were installed. This means that tropospheric radio links were established in three different directions: to the Langsdorf bunker in the north of the GDR, to the Röhrsdorf bunker in the south of the GDR and to a tropospheric radio station in the People's Republic of Poland . The tropospheric radio control center was integrated as a support message center 301 in the secretly prepared message system of the NVA. In this role she ensured the provision of tropospheric news channels for the main command post of the Ministry of National Defense in Harnekop and the main news center of the Ministry of National Defense .
