Send Away the Tigers is the eighth album by the Welsh band Manic Street Preachers . It was released on May 7, 2007 and was seen by fans and critics as a return to classic alternative rock that the bandplayedon Everything Must Go in the mid-1990s. Nicky Wire himself described the album as a mixture of Generation Terrorists and Everything Must Go.
content
After the commercial flop of Lifeblood , the Manics took a break. James Dean Bradfield released the solo album The Great Western , Nicky Wire I Killed the Zeitgeist . At the end of 2006, the recordings for a new long-playing record began. The lyrics on Send Away the Tigers were again far more political than on the previous one; Among other things, a cover of John Lennon's classic Working Class Hero (from the album John Lennon / Plastic Ono Band ) was recorded, which was included as a hidden track on the CD. Rendition deals with the so-called Extraordinary rendition , a part of the foreign policy of the United States , which provides for the extradition of terror suspects. The film Missing with Jack Lemmon is also alluded to with irony . Your Love Alone Is Not Enough - the first single on the album - is a duet with Nina Persson , the singer of the Swedish band The Cardigans .
