In the municipality of Schönau am Koenigssee is the transmitter Berchtesgaden of the German radio tower , which is used by the Bavarian radio . It uses a 51.47 meter high concrete tower that was erected in September 1993. The transmission area is the Berchtesgaden market , the vicinity of Schönau and the northern Königssee .

The two monitor receivers of the GALILEO test and development environment are also attached to the mast of the transmitter .
