Former broadcasting building of the Pfalzsender

The first broadcast station in Kaiserslautern (also known as the Pfalzsender ) was put into operation on May 1, 1928 by the Bavarian radio. The program consisted mainly of regional news for the Bavarian Palatinate. After 1933 the "Reichssender" from Berlin also took over parts of the program, especially the "news service".

The transmitter used a T-antenna as a transmitting antenna, which was stretched between two 60 meter high freestanding timber frame towers, which were located 130 meters apart. The transmission power was 500 W , the transmission frequency 1429 kHz . The transmitter was shut down in 1945 and the towers were dismantled. Today there is a day-care center in the former broadcasting building.
