Seppo Honkapohja

Seppo Honkapohja (born March 7, 1951 in Helsinki ) is a Finnish economist and board member of the Finnish central bank Suomen Pankki and former professor of international macroeconomics at Cambridge University .

Life

After attending the United World College of the Atlantic in Wales , Seppo Honkapohja attended the University of Helsinki and graduated with an M.Soc.Sc. , the Licentiate of Soc.Sc. and a D.Soc.Sc. from.

From 1975 to 1987, Dr. Honkapohja Scientific Director of the Yrjö Jahnsson Foundation . Until 1991 he was Professor of Economics at the Turku School of Economics and Business Administration . In 1992 he moved to the University of Helsinki, where he was Professor of Economics. In addition, from 2000 to 2004 he was Academy Professor at the Academy of Finland . In 2004 he followed a call to Cambridge University as Professor of International Macroeconomics.

Since January 1, 2008, Seppo Honkapohja, D.Soc.Sc., has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Finnish Central Bank. He is responsible for research, information technology and proprietary trading for the Finnish Central Bank.

He was a member of the European Economic Advisory Group from 2001 until his appointment as Central Bank Director . From 2004 to 2006 he was its chairman.
