Septic Tank is a British hardcore punk and grindcore band from Coventry , England , formed in 1994 as a side project by Lee Dorrian .
Band history
In 1994 Lee founded Dorrian von Cathedral with Gaz Jennings (also Cathedral), Scott Carlsson ( Repulsion ) and Barry Stern von Trouble to indulge their penchant for 1980s crustcore in the style of Discharge , Siege and Doom . The band name consists of the two sources of inspiration Septic Death and Tank and means " septic tank " in German . For two decades, the band only existed sporadically, the members meanwhile lived far apart.
In 2013, when Cathedral broke up after the album The Last Spire , Dorrian reactivated the band project. Music producer Jamie "Gomez" Arellano took over the drums. Together they created the EP The Slaughter , which was limited to 900 copies and only released in Japan.
On April 14, 2018, the debut album Rotting Civilization followed on Dorrian's own label Rise Above Records . The album artwork was created by Stewart Easton .
Music genre
The band plays hard, brutal hardcore punk that draws its inspiration from the eponymous bands Septic Death and Tank as well as Discharge, Celtic Frost , Cryptic Slaughter and the Japanese grindcore band GISM .
