The Serbska šula ( German : Sorbian School ) is a Sorbian trade journal.

history

The Serbska šula first appeared in 1948; initially as a circular from Domowina for Sorbian teachers. From 1952 it was published as an organ of the Ministry for Popular Education of the GDR .

The main task in the GDR was to provide school-political, pedagogical and methodological guidance that should help in the design of scientific, partisan and lifelike lessons in Sorbian as a subject.

Teachers, school officials and academics had a say and linked their experiences with questions of school policy and pedagogical and methodological issues. The focus was on improving the quality and effectiveness of Sorbian lessons. In addition, teaching aids and materials to improve teaching appeared as enclosures.

today

The Serbska šula continues to appear today. Even today it still has the claim to help the Sorbian teachers and educators in teaching the Sorbian language. The magazine is currently divided into three parts.

In the first part, “Theory and Practice”, mainly scientific texts are dealt with and the new Sorbian textbooks are presented at the beginning of each school year.

The second part contains master copies for various subjects that are taught in Sorbian.

In the third part of the newspaper, current issues are discussed and information about the work of the Witaj Language Center is published.

Most of the contributions are published in Upper Sorbian and only a small part in Lower Sorbian-Wendish .
