The Katolski Posoł ( listen ? / I ; "Catholic messenger") is a magazine of the Catholic Sorbs and appears in Upper Sorbian . The magazine, which now appears weekly, was founded in 1863 by Michał Hórnik . The editor of the paper is the Sorbian Cyrill Methodius Association . The publication of this church newspaper was only interrupted once by a ban by the National Socialists from 1939 to 1950. After the war it was very difficult to get a license for the Catholic newspaper from the GDR authorities. In addition, the church took the place of the association as publisher in the form of the Cyrill Methodius work as an episcopal work in the diocese of Dresden-Meißen . The Katolski Posoł was thus the first Catholic church newspaper that was allowed to appear in the GDR. Audio file / audio sample

With a weekly circulation of 2,200 copies (as of 2008), the Katolski Posoł is the most widespread print product in the Sorbian language in front of the secular daily Serbske Nowiny .
