Serge Cockburn (born February 1, 1990 in New South Wales ) is an Australian actor who is best known for his role as Mikey Dundee from the movie Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles , where he is the son of the title character Michael J. "Crocodile" Dundee (played by Paul Hogan ) mimes.

Life

Serge Cockburn was born in 1990 as the son of the renowned author, journalist and television commentator George Negus and his partner Kristy Cockburn, who also works as a journalist but also as a photographer and artist, in the Australian state of New South Wales, where he grew up. He lives with his parents and his older brother Ned on a small farm near the small town of Bellingen on the north coast of the state. Through his football-loving father, who once worked for the Australian Football Association himself , Serge Cockburn also came into contact with football, which he played for years, but always played at an amateur level. Through an advertisement in a local newspaper, Serge Cockburn's parents found out that the local production company Bungalow Productions was looking for a boy to play in a new film alongside Oscar-nominated Paul Hogan's son. After a home video that the parents shot of their son, who then told his grandfather something about one of his pets, and then sent it to the production company, Serge Cockburn was able to convince and was soon afterwards for the film, which was mostly in LA but also was filmed in other cities in the USA or Australia. The film then grossed more than 25 million US dollars in the United States alone , but did not come off well with some critics and was even nominated for worst remake or sequel with a Golden Raspberry . The only praise of most critics, however, was for the young Cockburn, as Michael O'Sullivan writes in the Washington Post on April 20, 2001, who criticizes the performances of the other actors and describes the film as cheap . During his casting for the film, he was able to convince the casting director Maura Fay , who died at the age of 43 that same year of the premiere, as Simon Wincer , the film's director, later said. In the following year, the reptile-loving Serge Cockburn was nominated for a Young Artist Award in the category "Best Performance in a Feature Film - Supporting Young Actor" at the Young Artist Awards in Studio City , California , but could not be in this category against Jake Thomas from Steven Spielberg's A.I. - Enforce artificial intelligence . In the year after his nomination, Cockburn was also seen in the Australian production Danny Deckchair , where he played a minor supporting role as Max Pike . During his active time as an actor, he mostly worked for the talent agency International Casting Service & Associates Pty Ltd. based in Darlinghurst , an eastern suburb of Sydney .
