Sergei Ivanovich Menjajlo ( Russian Сергей Иванович Меняйло; born August 22, 1960 in Alagir , North Ossetian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic , RSFSR , USSR ) is a Russian politician and Vice Admiral of the Reserve.

biography

After graduating from school, Menjajlo began his military career in the Caspian Red Banner Officers College of the Naval Forces SM Kirov in Baku . He graduated in 1983 as an engineer navigation officer . He was then appointed navigation commander for anti-mine vehicles of the Kolskaya flotilla .

In the late 1980s served as commander of the Menjajlo Seeminensuchschiffes " Rear Admiral Vlasov".

In March 1990 Menjajlo was elected as a member of the Murmansk Regional Council of People's Deputies. In 1995 he graduated from the Naval War Academy "NG Kuznetsov" in Saint Petersburg and was promoted first to deputy, then in 1998 to commander of the Caspian Flotilla .

In 2002 Menjajlo enrolled in the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation .

In June 2004, appointed Vladimir Putin issued a decree Menjajlo appointed first deputy commander of the Black Sea fleet belonging Noworossijker naval base. With simultaneous promotion to rear admiral, Menjajlo moved in August 2005 to the commander of the Novorossijk naval base. In June 2007 he was promoted to Vice Admiral.

During the Caucasus War in 2008 Menjajlo took an active part in the naval landing operation of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

In October 2009 Menjajlo received another promotion as deputy commander of the Black Sea Fleet. At the end of December 2011, Dmitry Medvedev released Menjajlo from military service in the reserve .

With the outbreak of civil protests in Ukraine and the subsequent Crimean crisis , Menjajlo returned to the public as a politician. In April 2014 he was elected governor of the city of Sevastopol .

In the wake of the conflict with Alexei Chaly , chairman of the Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol, Menjajlo resigned from his post on July 28, 2016; his successor was Dmitri Ovsjannikow . On the same day he was appointed as the authorized representative of the Russian President in the Siberian Federal District .
