Sergio Álvarez Boulet (born October 11, 1979 in Matanzas ) is a Cuban weightlifter .

Athletic career

Sergio Álvarez Boulet took part in the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney , where he was able to achieve fifth place in the weight class up to 56 kg. He won the silver medal in the category up to 56 kg with an output of 279 kg at the 2006 World Cup. In 2007, the Cuban finished fourth with 274 kg.

After finishing sixth at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing with a weight of 272 kg, his next international competition was the 2009 World Championships in Goyang. There he was able to achieve third place with 274 kg in a duel behind the Chinese Long with 292 kg and Wu with 286 kg, as well as with 154 kg in the push.
