"La Hormiguita" Orduña played his first game in the Mexican Primera División on November 2, 1975 for his "home club" CD Zacatepec in a 1-0 away win against Club León . His first first division came on November 16, 1975 in a 2-0 win against the Tigres de la UANL , for which he was soon to play for a full decade and with whom he twice the Mexican in the 1977/78 and 1981/82 seasons Championship won.

At the end of his active career he played for the Correcaminos de la UAT , in whose ranks he completed his last game in the Mexican Primera División on June 2, 1991 in a 2-0 home win against CD Veracruz . Already on December 17, 1989 he had scored his last first division goal for the same club to make it 1-0 in the 6th minute in a 2-0 home win against Atlético Morelia .

National team

Between January 22, 1980, when he came on as a substitute against Czechoslovakia (1-0) twenty minutes before the end of the game, and February 10, 1981, when he played half-time against South Korea and finished fourth in the 88th minute with his only international goal : 0-final score, Orduña completed a total of three international appearances. His longest mission (over 80 minutes) was on January 20, 1981 in a 1-1 draw against Bulgaria.

Stations as a trainer

"La Hormiguita" Orduña made his debut as head coach in the top Mexican division in the service of CF Monterrey after the contractual relationship with the previous coach Hugo de León had been terminated. Orduña coached the Rayados between April 24 and May 15, 2004 in the last four games of the Clausura 2004 against Chivas Guadalajara (3: 3), at Necaxa (1: 1), against Puebla FC (2: 2) and at the Pumas de la UNAM (2: 3).

In the 2007/08 season he won the championship of the second division with the Indios de Ciudad Juarez and thus made it to the Primera División. There he was, however, already after four games - those against Tecos de la UAG (0: 1), at his former club CF Monterrey (0: 2), against Necaxa (2: 3) and at Santos Laguna (0: 3) lost - released early.

Soon after, he succeeded Pablo Luna as coach of CD Veracruz and led the Tiburones Rojos from September 2008 to March 2009 through the last games of the Clausura 2008 and the first games of the Apertura 2009 of the second division, before he was replaced by Luis Flores.

Between October and December 2011 Orduña trained again the Indios de Ciudad Juárez and currently again the Lobos de la BUAP, which he had already looked after in the 2009/10 season, until she withdrew from the second division .
