Sergio Reynaldo González Bayard (born June 20, 1990 in Holguín ) is a Cuban beach volleyball player .

Career

González reached ninth place with Yaimel Borrell at the Junior World Championships in The Hague in 2008 . In 2009 he played with Karell Piña Ventoza on the NORCECA tour. Piña / González finished second in Grand Cayman and Guatemala City , and then won the tournament in Boca Chica . In 2010 they won the tournament in Guatemala City after a third place in San Salvador and a second place in Boca Chica. Piña / González took part in the Pan American Games in Guadalajara in 2011 , where they finished sixth. In 2012 they prevailed at the NORCECA tournaments in Chiapas and Varadero and came second in Toluca . In 2013 they finished second in Guatemala, fifth in Toluca and fourth in Varadero.

In 2014 González formed a new duo with Nivaldo Nadhir Díaz Gómez . Díaz / González initially achieved a few tournament victories and top placements on the continental tour. Then they took part in the 2015 World Cup in the Netherlands; there they qualified as group runner-up in the preliminary round for the knockout round and reached the second round. At the NORCECA Continental Cup , the Cubans prevailed against the competitors from North and Central America and qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games , where they finished fifth. In 2017 Díaz / González started on the FIVB World Tour and had some top ten results there.
