Sergiu Ioan Viorel Costin (born November 21, 1978 in Bistrița ) is a Romanian football player . The central defender has been under contract with Gloria Bistrița in Liga II since summer 2014 .
Career
Costin's career began in his hometown of Bistrița with Gloria Bistrița . In 1997, he came into the first team squad, which at that time in the Divizia A played. In his first season he came only on sporadic missions, so that he was loaned for the 1998/99 season to the second division club Unirea Dej , with whom he had to relegate at the end of the season . After his return to Gloria re-lending transaction was agreed - this time with the descended straight from the Divizia A Olimpia Satu Mare . Here he became a regular and was able to fight for this status in Bistrița even after his return. With his team, he was able to continuously place himself in the front midfield in the following years and always qualify for the UEFA Intertoto Cup . The best placement during this period was a third place in the 2002/03 season .
At the beginning of 2006, Costin left his hometown and joined league rivals Oțelul Galați . He also established himself as a regular in the defense at his new club. With Oțelul he finished the following seasons in midfield of League 1. This changed when Dorinel Munteanu was head coach in 2009. After a fifth place in 2009/10 , he won his first title in the 2010/11 season with the championship. In the summer of 2014 he returned to Bistrița after eight and a half years in Galați.
