Serhij Dsindsiruk ( Ukrainian Сергій Дзиндзирук ; born March 1, 1976 in Nizhnegorsky , Ukrainian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Ukrainian boxer .

amateur

The southpaw took part in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , but was eliminated in the second round against Hasan Al , who started for Denmark . In 1997 he became vice world champion in welterweight (up to 67 kg) when he only lost to the Russian Oleg Saitow in the final in Budapest . At the European Championships in 1996 he reached a third place, at the European Championships in 1998 in Minsk he was second, in both title fights he was failed by Saitov. He won 195 of 210 fights.

Professional career

Dsindsiruk first turned professional in 1999 at Panix Boxing Promotion in Great Britain , but never felt at home there. Until 2002 he boxed mainly in Poland . Finally, in 2003, he moved to Hamburg to do Universum Box-Promotion . In 2004 he beat Andrej Pestriajew his first known opponent and became European light middleweight champion with a win against Mamadou Thiam . On December 3, 2005 he won the WBO title in the class (at the WBO as "super welterweight") against the Puerto Rican Daniel Santos and subsequently defended him against the Czech Lukáš Konečný and the Colombian Joel Julio. After disputes with Universum, the contract with the Hamburg boxing stable was terminated in February 2010.
