The chairlift finally ceased operations on January 21, 2018, after 51 years of operation, after the cable car concession had expired and an extension would have involved considerable investments.

The Brüggelekopf chairlift is part of the Alberschwende ski area (winter sports region). Since 2002, attempts have been made in the ski area with artificial snow-making on an area of approx. 6 hectares to ensure winter sports operations when there is little natural snow.

Trivia

After the end of the cable car operation, the previous ticket booth was obsolete and a re-use was considered. In cooperation with the Alberschwende municipality, the AllerHand craft association (Raimund Dür), architect Reinhold Knapp and mayor Angelika Schwarzmann, it was decided to build a mobile hotel room out of it. The implementation of the work was carried out by the pupils of grades 3a and 3b of the middle school Alberschwende under the technical guidance of an apprentice each from the companies Holzbau Werner Flatz and Holzbau Sohm.
