Severin Schindler (born January 18, 1671 in Berlin ; † November 22, 1737 there ) was a Prussian businessman and politician.

Severin Schindler was the founder of the Royal Gold and Silver Manufactory. During the campaign in Brabant in 1697 he served as war commissioner. In 1704 he became a Kommerzienrat , later Hofrat and finally in 1717 the Royal Prussian Privy Council . Schindler's brother-in-law Johann Andreas Kraut ran the Royal Warehouse , which was founded in 1713 and primarily produced fabrics for the Prussian army. However, Schindler quickly became the actual manager of the company.

In 1725 Schindler acquired the Schöneiche estate . In the same year he began to expand the village church, which had been built in the typical field stone shape up to that point, into a representative baroque church “To the budding peace”. In 1726 he also donated a valuable library of theological content and edification literature , which was kept in the church. These included several books from the 16th and 17th centuries with title woodcuts by Lucas Cranach . In the same year he also hired the town's first schoolmaster and had a school built in 1730. The school quickly became an orphanage where seven boys lived and were educated.

After Schindler's death, his widow Maria Rosina Bosin (born August 15, 1688 in Leipzig; † January 17, 1746 in Berlin) inherited the entire fortune and continued her husband's charitable work until her own death. She made several significant donations to the parish while she was still alive. In 1739 she had two paintings made for the church by the painter Anna Rosina de Gasc (née Lisiewsky) and by her husband by her father Georg Lisiewsky . She bequeathed 25,000 thalers and the Schöneiche estate to the orphanage foundation. With the approval of Frederick II , the orphanage was relocated to Berlin in 1746 and the Schöneiche estate was sold in 1747. Both spouses are buried in the Nikolaikirche in Berlin, their graves are opposite the sacristy .
