Shadyside is on the Ohio River village situated in Belmont County ( Ohio ) in the United States . Shadyside is part of the Wheeling, West Virginia metropolitan area. The population in the 2000 census was the 3675th are located in Shadyside, a high school ( Shadyside High School ) and the Leona Avenue Middle School and Elementary School Jefferson Elementary .

Close Shadyside located along the river of the Ohio River coal and oil-fired 400 MW power plant RE Burger Plant of the Ohio Edison . Since 1998, electrocatalytic oxidation (ECO) to reduce emissions of sulfur and nitrogen oxides has been tested there as a pilot process.

history

On June 14, 1990, during a violent thunderstorm, more than 12 cm of rain fell on the already water-saturated soil around the streams Pipe and Wegee above Shadyside within an hour. The streams then stepped up to 9 m above sea level and created a flash flood , with 24 people drowning in Shadyside.
