Shake was a compositing program used in post production to process digital film recordings and computer-generated images with image processing effects. The program works with a node-based workflow and supports a color depth of up to 32 bits per channel.
history
Shake was originally developed by Nothing Real as a pure command line tool, i.e. without a graphical user interface. The program for Windows and Linux was presented for the first time in 1999 at the NAB Show in Las Vegas . In February 2002, Apple bought Nothing Real. With the introduction of version 4.1 for macOS in June 2006, Apple officially ended the development of Shake. Since July 30, 2009, the link to Shake on the Apple homepage only redirects to the Final Cut Pro page . Alternatives to Shake are Nuke from The Foundry , Fusion from Blackmagic Design , After Effects from Adobe , Combustion from Autodesk , as well as Natron or Blender as open source alternatives.
