Sharika Nelvis

Sharika Nelvis (born May 10, 1990 ) is an American hurdler who specializes in the 100 meter distance .

In 2015 she won the hurdles races in Rome, New York City and Monaco in the IAAF Diamond League . At the World Championships in Beijing , she was eighth. Since mid-2016 she switched to her new coach Darryl Woodson, but missed the qualification for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. In 2017 she again achieved numerous top placements at international meetings, including victories at the Athletissima in Lausanne and the top athletics in Lucerne . At the 2018 World Indoor Championships in Birmingham, she finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles.

At the IAAF World Relays 2019 in Yokohama, she won the gold medal together with Christina Clemons , Freddie Crittenden and Devon Allen in the first-ever hurdles pendulum relay.

Starting for Arkansas State University , she became NCAA champion in 2014 and NCAA indoor champion over 60 m hurdles. In 2018 and 2019 she became the American indoor champion over the same distance.
