Sharon Oreck

Sharon Lee Oreck (born April 10, 1955 in Los Angeles ) is an American film producer .

Live and act

Sharon Oreck attended Miraleste High School in Rancho Palos Verdes until 1974 and studied film at Los Angeles City College . Her film career began in the mid-1970s in technology and as an assistant editor . In 1980 she was a production assistant on the comedy Below the Belt . Five years later she made her first film, Tales of Meeting and Parting , which is set in Hong Kong during World War II. Together with the director and co-producer Lesli Linka Glatter , she received an Oscar nomination in 1985 in the short film category (live action) .

More documentaries and short films, videos and TV commercials followed. According to his own statement, Oreck produced more than 700 music videos between 1984 and 1999. These include music videos by Madonna , Sting , Mick Jagger and Prince , among others . In 1987 she founded her own production company O Pictures in Los Angeles . In 1991 , Oreck received a Grammy Award for the music video for Paula Abdul's song Opposites Attract . In 2000 she was the producer of the film drama Right in the middle of it all .

In 2010 Oreck published the autobiography Video slut , in which she describes everyday life in the music video industry in the 1980s, as well as her own path from a teenage mother on welfare to a successful producer.

Oreck is married to the cameraman Bill Pope (* 1952).
