Shawn Maurice Barry (born April 23, 1990 in Miramar , Florida ) is an American football player of Puerto Rican descent . He plays in the position of a defender .

Career

Barry began his career at the University of Virginia in the college soccer department there. In 2010 he moved to Europe and signed a contract with the then Austrian Bundesliga club LASK Linz , where he was initially part of the amateur team in the Regionalliga Mitte (third highest division). In his first season he came on 17 missions and scored three goals. The amateurs became champions, but were not allowed to move up to the next higher league due to the regulations of the Bundesliga. He also came on two appearances in the Bundesliga team.

The central defender made his debut in the top Austrian league on May 22, 2011 against FC Wacker Innsbruck , when he played from the beginning to the 61st minute. Then he was substituted for the Albanian Klodian Duro . The game in Innsbruck was lost 0-1. The first team had to be relegated from the Bundesliga. On June 19, 2015 it was announced that he would play at FSV Frankfurt from July 2015 . There he received a contract until summer 2017.
