The Ontario Highway 631 crosses the river south of Hornepayne . It takes up the tributaries of Little Jackfish River and Beaton River and turns north. The Nagagamisis River , which drains the Nagagamisis Lake , later flows into the Shekak River from the left. The river flows through the Canadian Shield in an unchanged northerly direction. The Ontario Highway 11 finally crosses the Shekak River not far from its confluence with the Nagagami River. The Shekak River has a length of about 150 km.
