Shelley Malil

Shelley Mathew Malil (born December 23, 1964 in Kerala , India ) is an American actor .

Career

Malil immigrated to the United States with his parents in 1974, he is of Asian-Indian descent. After finishing school in Texas , he moved to New York City in 1993 and attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts for two years . Shelley achieved national fame through the Budweiser commercial Whassup ?, which was also broadcast abroad from 1999 to 2002 and has received several awards (including the Golden Lion at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival ) . . As a result he played guest roles in numerous television series and various film roles.

Conviction for attempted murder

In August 2008, Malil was arrested for assaulting his ex-girlfriend and found guilty of attempted murder by a court in September 2010. In December 2010, he was sentenced to life imprisonment by a San Diego court with the prospect of being released after 12 years on probation if well behaved. His ex-girlfriend suffered life-threatening stab wounds in his attack in San Marcos and only barely survived.
