Sherraine shawl
Sherraine Schalm (born June 21, 1975 in Brooks , Alberta ) is a former Canadian sword fencer .
Life
Schalm had been a member of the Canadian sword team from the Pan American Games in Mar del Plata in 1995 until she retired in 2012.
Schalm was married to the Hungarian musician Geordie MacKay and, after her resignation, lives in Italy with her husband Matteo Ortolina and their daughter.
successes
In 2000 she took part in the Olympic Games for the first time and finished ninth with the foil team. In 2004 in Athens she was defeated in the epee singles in the round of 32 to the Greek Jeanne Hristou , with the team she finished fourth. She was third in the individual competition at the 2005 World Championships in Leipzig . In 2008 she became the individual Pan America champion in Querétaro . At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 she lost 13:15 to her training partner Ildikó Mincza-Nébald and finished ninth. In 2009, Schalm won silver in the epee singles at the World Championships in Antalya . At the Olympic Games in London in 2012 , she finished 24th.
