Takahiro Shin'yo ( Japanese 神 余 隆博 , Shin'yo Takahiro ; born January 11, 1950 in Kagawa Prefecture ) is a Japanese diplomat . From 2008 to 2011 he was the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Japan to the Federal Republic of Germany .

biography

Shin'yo passed an entrance examination for the higher foreign service in Japan in 1971 . He graduated from Osaka University in 1972 with a law degree . At the same time he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan . In 1973 he enrolled at the Georg-August University of Göttingen and spent two years studying international law ( international law ). He also has a doctorate. In 1975 he was promoted to third or second secretary of the Japanese embassy in Switzerland . In 1984 he became the first secretary of the Japanese embassy in China . In 1987, he acted as Counselor ( sanjikan ) Japanese Embassy in Germany. Back in Japan in 1989, Shin'yo was appointed head of the United Nations Department of Disarmament at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. There he also took over as head of the UN Policy Unit in 1991 . From 1996 Shin'yo returned to Germany as envoy ( kōshi ). In 1999, he became Deputy Head of European and Oceanic Affairs at the Japanese Foreign Ministry. In 2002 he became Consul General of Japan in Düsseldorf. In 2005 he was Head of Global Affairs . In 2006 Shin'yo was Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations . From 2008 to 2011 he was the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Japan to the Federal Republic of Germany.

In addition to his diplomatic work, he has been professor at the Faculty of Law and the Osaka School of International Public Policy at Osaka University since 1993/94 . He also taught for several years as a professor at the Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto .

Shin'yo is Honorary President of the German-Japanese Society in Berlin . He is married and speaks Japanese, English and German.
