Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Children ( Japanese 真 ・ 女神 転 生 デ ビ ル チ ル ド レ ン ) is the title of a series of Japanese video games by Atlus . In addition to the five games, a manga and an anime series were also released , the manga was published in Germany under the title The Devil Children . The games belong to the Megami Tensei series.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Children - Black Book / Red Book / White Book

The first part of the series was Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Children Black Book / Red Book / White Book ( 真 ・ 女神 転 生 デ ビ ル チ ル ド レ ン 黒 の 書 / 赤 の 書 / 白 の 書 ) for Game Boy Color . The game was offered in three versions, with the third version only being released on July 17, 2001. The RPG offers different main characters and a different story depending on the version. The first published versions Black and Red later came out together for the PlayStation .

Each of the games is about a different Devil Child , child of a human and a demon. The children collect monsters who fight as their partners ( 仲 魔 , Nakama ). The environment is Makai ( 魔界 , dt. "Demon world, hell").

Content

Black Book
The hero of the Black Book is Setsuna Kai ( 甲 斐 刹那 ) with his Nakama Cool ( ク ー ル , Kūru ), a Kerberos . He is looking for his little brother Nagahisa ( ナ ガ ヒ サ ), who was kidnapped by the ice devil Jack Frost . He has to go through the land of Makai. He is directed by Takashou Zed .
Red Book
The girl and devil children Mirai Kaname ( 要 未来 ) with her Nakama Bell ( ベ ー ル , Bēru ) is the heroine of the Red Book . When she receives her nakama, a precious piece of jewelry from her mother is stolen by a devil. Takashō Zed ( タ カ ジ ョ ー ・ ゼ ッ ト , Takashō Zeddo ), who brings this back to her, invites her to the land of Makai. There she is assigned to fight other Devil Children who cause destruction.
White Book
Due to a conflict between Tenkai ( 天 界 , dt. "Himmelswelt, Himmel") and Makai, in which Tenkai wants to see the power of angels and devils in children, two children are born, Masaki Kuzuha ( 葛 羽 将来 ) and Takaharu Ōgi ( 王 城 嵩 治 ). Ten years later, they are both best friends. Masaki, hero of the story, is finally revealed to be a Devil Child, his Nakama being Cray ( ク レ イ , Kurei ). Takaharu is an Angel Child, his Nakama is Rei ( レ イ ).

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Children - Book of Light / Book of Dark

Shin Megami Tensei followed on November 15, 2002 : Devil Children - Book of Light / Book of Dark ( 真 ・ 女神 転 生 デ ビ ル チ ル ド レ ン 光 の 書 / 闇 の 書 ) in Japan for Game Boy Advance . As in the first game, the two versions Book of Light and Book of Dark each revolve around different characters who are both Devil Children, half-demons.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Children - Puzzle de Call!

The player plays one of the two characters Rand and Gale, who want to save their masters Jin and Akira. In multiplayer mode, two players can compete against each other.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Children - Book of Fire / Book of Ice

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Children Book of Fire / Book of Ice ( 真 ・ 女神 転 生 デ ビ ル チ ル ド レ ン 炎 の 書 / 氷 の 書 ) was released on December 12, 2003 as a sequel to Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Children - Book of Light / Book of Dark . It's about the same characters as from the older game.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Children - Messiah Riser

The strategy role-playing game Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Children Messiah Riser ( 真 ・ 女神 転 生 デ ビ ル チ ル ド レ ン メ シ ア ラ ラ イ ザ ー ) was released on November 4, 2004. It continues the second game in the series and revolves around the appearance of a Messiah Riser.

In 2000, a first television series was produced for the game series, which is based on the first game. The music of the first series was composed by Ryō Yoshimata. The opening titles are Go-Round by Nao Itō in FIX ( 伊藤 奈 央 in FIX) and Love Sick by Fairy Fore. A second series with the title Shin Megami Tensei Devil Children: Light & Dark ( 真 ・ 女神 転 生D.デ ビ ルチ ル ド レ ン ラ イ ト & ダ ー ク ). The music of the second series was composed by the Spiceboys. The opening title of the first 28 episodes was Light & Dark - Toki o Sukue! ( ラ イ ト & ダ ー ク 〜 時 を 救 え! ) sung by Osamu Masaki, and for episodes 29 to 52 Boys and Girls ( ボ ー イ ズ ・ ア ン ド ・ ガ ー ル ス! ) by Hideaki Takatori . The credits were accordingly Happy Life ( ハ ッ ピ ー ラ イ フ ) by Little Voice and Birthday Smile by Mitsuko Horie .

Manga

From 2001 to 2002 a manga adaptation was published by Kodansha in Japan under the title Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Children ( 真 ・ 女神 転 生 デ ビ ル チ ル ド レ ン ). The series reached five volumes and was created by the illustrator Hideaki Fujii . In 2013 a new edition was published in three volumes. In Egmont Manga & Anime Manga as published The Devil Children in 2005 in German. It was also published in Indonesia, among others.

From 2003 to 2004 the sequel Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Children: Light & Dark ( 真 ・ 女神 転 生D.デ ビ ルチ ル ド レ ン ラ イ ト & ダ ー ク ) in three volumes.
