The Shinobi Rock ( Japanese 忍 び 岩 Sinobi-iwa , German 'Hidden Rock' ; Norwegian Løyndeknatten ) is a small rocky outcrop on the Crown Prince Olav coast in Queen Maud Land in East Antarctica . It rises up between Kabuto Rock and Rakuda Rock .
Aerial photographs and measurements of the Japanese Antarctic expedition, which lasted from 1957 to 1962, were used to map it. The Japanese scientists involved also made the naming. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names translated them into English in 1968.
