The Getrumspitze is a 2588  m slm (according to other information 2590  m slm ) high mountain in the Sarntal Alps . It is located in the Getrumkamm, a side ridge protruding westward from the eastern Sarntal main ridge into the Durnholz Valley . Administratively, the Getrumspitze is located in the municipality of Sarntal in South Tyrol ( Italy ).

Location and surroundings

Just a little more than 300 meters southwest of the Getrumspitze is the almost equally high Plankenhorn ( 2589  m slm ), which, in contrast to the Getrumspitze, has a summit cross.

The Getrumkamm branches off at the Kassianspitze ( 2581  m slm ) from the eastern Sarntal main ridge in a north-westerly direction and, after a notch at a height of around 2440  m, reaches a corner point with a height of 2569  m , which is called the Getrumjoch on some maps , others Maps also show the actual summit of the Getrumspitze. At this point the Getrumkamm bends sharply to the southwest, gradually ascending to the actual main summit of the Getrumspitze, before it has a very clear notch with a height of about 2550 in the further course to the Plankenhorn. At the corner known as the Getrumjoch , another secondary ridge branches off to the northwest, in which the summit points Hirscheck ( 2421  m ) and Pfaffenspitze ( 2432  m ) are located.

Less than 500 meters from the summit, under the steep southwestern slopes of the Getrumspitze , is the Getrumsee at an altitude of 2369  m . The lake is located in the wide cirque between Kassianspitze, Getrumspitze and Plankenhorn.

Alpinism

The Getrumspitze can be reached via the Plankenhorn, which is easily accessible via a marked hiking trail. Starting from the Plankenhorn, the entire Getrumkamm can be crossed in a north-easterly direction. However, this passage has a few exposed areas that are secured by fixed ropes . The easiest access to the Plankenhorn is from the Reinswald ski area, where a cable car takes you to an altitude of 2150  m ; an ascent from the Getrum valley is also possible.

The Getrumspitze can also be reached from the east, from Latzfons above the Eisack valley . Access is either via the Kassianspitze or via the Lückl ( 2376  m slm ) near the Latzfonser Kreuz .
