Shirley Strong

Shirley Strong (born November 18, 1958 in Northwich , Cheshire ) is a former British athlete and Olympian.

Strong won the silver medal in the 100 meter hurdles between the two Britons Lorna Boothe (gold) and Sharon Colyear (bronze) at the 1978 Commonwealth Games , held in Edmonton , Alberta , Canada . At the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane , Queensland , Australia , she won the gold medal in front of the British Lorna Boothe (silver) and the Canadian Susan Kameli (bronze).

At the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles , she won the silver medal in the 100 meter hurdles behind the American Benita Fitzgerald-Brown (gold) and in front of the two third-placed, the French Michèle Chardonnet and the American Kim Turner , (both Bronze).
