The Shivalik- class (Project 17) is a series of three frigates with stealth technology that was built for the Indian Navy .

technology

The 6,200 ton frigates have a crew of 257 men. The independent design from India is equipped with a mix of weapons and sensors of Russian, Western and Israeli origin. The local share of India is about 60% of the value. Sonar and underground defense systems, for example, come from their own country, as do the Kavach decoys . The armament consists of two Barak-1 short-range air defense systems and eight Klub VLM missile systems with ranges of 30 and 300 km, respectively, and Shtil-1 medium-range air defense missiles. In addition, the ships each have two 12- barrel anti- submarine missile launchers RBU 6000 Smertsch as well as Oto-Melara 76 mm guns manufactured under license in India . The 142 m long frigates also deploy two anti-submarine helicopters from the aft flight deck.
