occupation

Shorta is an action film by Anders Ølholm and Frederik Louis Hviid , which will celebrate its world premiere at the beginning of September 2020 as part of the Venice Film Festival 2020 and will be released in Danish cinemas on October 8, 2020.

action

Police officers Jens Høyer and Mike Andersen were patrolling the Svalegården ghetto near Copenhagen when they heard on the radio that 19-year-old Talib Ben Hassi had died in police custody. The exact circumstances of the death are still unclear.

The news triggers great anger among the youth in the ghetto, which has long pent up. They want revenge and the situation in the ghetto becomes completely uncontrollable. Jens and Mike are right in the middle of the action, are being hunted by the youngsters and have to fight for their lives.

production

It was directed by Anders Ølholm and Frederik Louis Hviid , who also wrote the script. They shot the film in real time. For both of them it is their directorial debut in a feature film. Ølholm had previously written the scripts for Antboy and Amina's letters , among others , and Hviid for several short films. The police in Saudi Arabia are referred to as “Shorta” , but also the police in Arabic in general. Svalegården, near Copenhagen, is a fictional ghetto. The name translated means something like "swallow farm".

The leading roles of the two police officers Mike Andersen and Jens Høyer were cast with Jacob Lohmann and Simon Sears .

A first screening is planned for September 6, 2020 at the Venice Film Festival 2020 , where it will be shown as part of the International Critics' Week. It is scheduled to be released in Danish cinemas on October 8, 2020.
