Shunji Kasuya
Shunji Kasuya ( Japanese 粕 谷 俊 治 , Kasuya Shunji ; born January 24, 1962 in Tokyo Prefecture ), also Syunji Kasuya , is a former Japanese car racing driver .
Career in motorsport
Shunji Kasuya was an active driver in motorsport for almost 20 years. Its first races were contested in the late 1980s in the Japanese touring and sports car championship . For a few years he competed in monopostor races parallel to the sports car races , in which he had little success. His first race in Europe was the Le Mans 24-hour race in 1989 . Kasuya drove a Cougar C20B of Courage Compétition to the 14th position of the overall standings. Partners were the two Frenchmen Jean-Claude Andruet and Philippe Farjon . Kasuya mainly drove his races in Japan. Exceptions were reports at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the 1990s.
After the end of his racing career, he opened an Alfa Romeo branch in his hometown of Tokyo.
