Shunsuke Komamura ( Japanese 駒 村 俊 介 , Komamura Shunsuke ; born May 20, 1979 in Niigata Prefecture ) is a former Japanese cross-country skier .

Career

Komamura took part in FIS competitions from 1996 to 2012 . He ran his first World Cup race in Stockholm in March 2002 , which he finished in 54th place in the sprint. In 2003 he became the Japanese champion over 50 km classic. In February 2005 he got his first World Cup points in Reit im Winkl with the 20th place in the sprint. This was also his best result in an individual World Cup race. His best placements at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2005 in Oberstdorf were 22nd place in the 50 km mass start race and 14th place with the relay. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Pragelato , he finished 59th in the 50 km mass start race and 43rd in the sprint. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2007 in Sapporo , he achieved 41st place in the 30 km skiathlon race , 20th place in the 50 km mass start race and 14th place with the relay. From the 2008/09 season to 2012, he mainly competed in the Far East Cup , which he finished in 2009 in second place in the overall standings.
