Gazprom Neft ( Russian Газпром нефть , until June 2006: Sibneft Russian Сибнефть ) is the fifth largest mineral oil company in Russia with its headquarters in Moscow . Gazprom Neft is listed in the RTS index . The company was founded in 1995 .
Sibneft has repeatedly tried to merge with the Yukos company . In October 2005, Sibneft was taken over by Gazprom ; Until then, the majority of Sibneft belonged to a group of companies owned by Roman Abramowitsch . He sold his block of shares for $ 13.1 billion. The company's name was changed to Gazprom Neft in June 2006.

Gazprom Neft is one of the twenty largest oil producers in the world. The group has 4.5 billion barrels of proven oil reserves and around 60 concessions for the exploration and production of oil in Siberia, especially in the areas of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug , the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug and the Omsk , Tomsk and Chukotka regions . It currently produces around 256 million barrels of oil per year.
In the first half of 2006, Gazprom Neft posted sales of 10.1 billion US dollars (plus 77 percent) , calculated according to US GAAP . The EBITDA was 2.6 billion US dollars (plus 35 percent), the net profit was 1.8 billion US dollars (up 22 percent).
