history
In 1927 Maurice Amon (1880–1959) founded a supplier company for the food and agricultural industries in Lausanne. The first main product was a milking fat.
The abbreviation of the original company name S ociété I ndustrielle et C ommerciale de P roduits A limentaires (German: Food industry and trading company ) results in the company name SICPA.
In 1940 the company began producing printing inks, and in 1948 the first security inks for banknote printing were made, which were used in the production of the Spanish 100 peseta note.
Under the management of Albert Amons, the son of Maurice Amon, the company expanded in the first three post-war decades in Europe and overseas, mainly focusing on the production of printing inks. To ensure high quality, especially under demanding climatic and cultural conditions, the company developed standards for the properties and properties of its printing inks.
In September 2005, the company sold its international packaging printing inks division with 2,800 employees and sales of 400 million euros to Siegwerk Druckfarben AG & Co. KGaA.
In January 2016, SICPA acquired Global Fluids International (GFI), a Canadian pioneer in the labeling and traceability of petroleum products at the molecular level.
