Sid Kucera

Zdenek "Sid" Kucera ( Czech Zdeněk Kučera ; born June 12, 1941 in Prague ) is a Swiss jazz musician ( trumpet , vocals ) of Czech origin. He has lived in Hinwil since 1981 .

Live and act

Kucera studied at the conservatory in his native city up to the diploma for trumpet and singing. Then he led small and large jazz formations in Prague. In the next few years he performed at various jazz festivals not only in Czechoslovakia, but from 1974 also in Germany, where he also appeared in US Army clubs and jazz clubs, and in Switzerland.

After emigrating to Switzerland, he initially also worked as a teacher: in the Migros Club School, in voice training and in the Rapperswil New Music School. Together with his Revival Jazz Band , he toured Europe, where he made guest appearances in clubs, at jazz festivals and in concert halls. In the USA he took singing lessons from Allan Greene . In addition to his band, he currently plays with the Inter State New Orleans Style Parade Band .

Kucera was President of the Jazz Club Zürich-Oberland and works at the SwissJazzOrama in Uster .
