Siegfried Fricke

Siegfried Fricke (born November 19, 1954 in Bralorne , British Columbia , Canada ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and successful rower and Olympic participant. He is a lieutenant colonel in the reserve.

Life and work

After graduating from the Goetheschule in Wetzlar , he joined the armed forces . He left this as a lieutenant colonel in the reserve. He then completed a course of study at the Administrative College of the State of Hesse in Frankfurt am Main. He performed various activities in the public service, including mayor of the city of Königstein im Taunus and as a full-time district member of the district of Gießen .

Fricke was a successful competitive athlete: As a rower for the RG Wetzlar , he took part in the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. At the age of 18 he won the first of three German championship titles of his career. In 1976, at the age of 21, he was third in a foursome with helmsman at the Montreal Summer Olympics.

For this he was awarded the silver bay leaf .

In 1980 the German Olympic boycott prevented Fricke from taking part in the Olympic Games again.

He is married and has two children.

Fricke is a member of the CDU .

Public offices

Fricke initially worked in the Personnel and Organization Office of the city of Frankfurt am Main , then for his home town of Hüttenberg . Then he was 1st city councilor in Raunheim and mayor of Königstein im Taunus . From 2006 to 2011 he was a full-time alderman in the district of Gießen. In the direct election to the district administrator in the district of Gießen on June 7, 2009, Fricke stood as a CDU candidate. He was defeated by his challenger Anita Schneider from the SPD .
