Siegfried Großmann (theologian)
Siegfried Großmann (* 1938 in Aalen ) is a German Baptist pastor, educational advisor in the Federation of Evangelical Free Churches and the author of numerous theological books. He was a co-founder of the ecumenical center in Craheim Castle , president of the Federation of Evangelical Free Churches and the Association of Evangelical Free Churches in Germany.
Life
Großmann graduated from the Schubart-Gymnasium in Aalen in 1957. He studied theology and worked as a pastor and education officer in the Federation of Evangelical Free Churches. He was a co-founder of the ecumenical center in Craheim Castle, he headed the Oncken Verlag and the adult education of the Federation of Evangelical Free Churches (BEFG). In a crisis, he took over the presidency of the Federation of Evangelical Free Churches (BEFG) from 2002-2007. He said of himself: "I am not a leader in the usual sense, but an integrator and try to create spaces so that as many people as possible can participate." For him, evangelism , mission , global responsibility and social justice belonged closely together, which he also addressed, emphasized and reinforced during his presidency. In 2003 he visited the Vatican with a Baptist delegation , where they spoke with Cardinal Walter Kasper mainly about similarities in the doctrine of justification . Not all Protestant Free Churches appreciated this conversation with Roman Catholic dignitaries.
After his retirement, Großmann continues to work as a speaker mainly in Baptist churches in Germany and writes theological non-fiction books.
Private
Großmann is married to Gudrun, they live in Seesen .
Teaching
For decades, Großmann has dealt with the Holy Spirit in particular, and with the charismatic movement and healing of the sick . He argues that healing should be understood holistically, because it was already complex in the Bible. God responds to requests for healing as follows:
- He heals and with it gives answer to prayer
- He heals through the actions of doctors
- He wants to heal, but he finds no one to hope, pray, and create circumstances that promote healing
- May he heal through the gate of death into eternity
- He allows illness because it makes other areas important to us
- He allows illness because he allows us to participate in his suffering in the world
- He makes things happen that we cannot understand
In his book Conflicts Are Opportunities , published in 1998 , he presented 25 conflict resolution approaches that he had taken from the Bible and the human sciences:
- Separating as a step into the future
- Give in
- Get to the bottom of something
- Organize competently
- Finding a fair balance
- Let the conflict rest
- Relieve tension
- Promote social justice
- Turn aggression into communication : "Turn swords into plowshares"
- Orientate yourself to the lifestyle of Jesus
- Becoming real in relationships
- Become community capable
- Control yourself in conflict
- Understand the focus of a conflict
- Mature and Immature Ways of Conflict Management
- Communicative interviewing (according to the rules of Ruth Cohn )
- How do I appear to others?
- My feelings in conflict
- The sociogram
- brainstorming
- Conflict analysis
- My conflict - very personal
- Winning instead of winning
- Mediation - finding a fair balance
- Hire an advisor
His more recent works deal again more with the spiritual life and questions of the future from a biblical point of view.
