Siegfried Kreuzer

Siegfried Kreuzer (born December 18, 1949 in Geboltskirchen in Upper Austria ) is a Protestant theologian and university professor for the Old Testament .

life and work

Kreuzer studied Protestant theology from 1969 to 1975 in Vienna , Zurich and in the USA . In 1981 he received his doctorate as Dr. theol. in the subject of the Old Testament . In 1985 he took over a visiting professorship at the Philipps University of Marburg . In 1987 he completed his habilitation in "Old Testament Science and Biblical Archeology" at the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the University of Vienna . From 1986 to 1991, Kreuzer was director of the Evangelical Religious Education Academy (today: Kirchliche Pädagogische Hochschule Wien / Krems ) in Vienna. Since 1991 he has been a full professor at the Church University of Wuppertal . In addition, from 1993 to 2012 he also held a teaching position in Faculty 02 History, Philosophy, Theology (recently Faculty A Humanities and Cultural Studies ) at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal . A special research focus of Kreuzer's lies on the history of the Bible and the study of the Septuagint . He has been retired since 2015.

Institutional Membership

Kreuzer was a member of the Committee for Education and Training of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland . He was co-editor of the project: The Septuaginta German - The Greek Old Testament German (LXX.D) and the accompanying volumes The Septuaginta German - Explanations and Commentary (LXX.E) , where he was responsible for the history books Joshua to Ezra . He is a member of the advisory board of the Biblical Archaeological Institute affiliated with KiHo Wuppertal . Kreuzer is also a member of the Board of Advisers of the “Commentary on the Septuagint” of the International Organization for Septuagint and Cognate Studies . Since 2012, Kreuzer has been editor of the "Journal of Septuagint and Cognate Studies" (JSCS) . Together with Martin Karrer and Wolfgang Kraus, he is the editor of the "Handbuch zur Septuagint / Handbook of the Septuagint" and the editor of the "Introduction to the Septuagint" (2016).
