Siegfried Mackowsky

Siegfried Mackowsky (born November 25, 1878 in Dresden ; † February 16, 1941 ibid) was a German landscape painter , etcher and wood cutter .

Life

Mackowsky studied at the Dresden Art Academy with Richard Müller , Carl Bantzer , Eugen Bracht and Gotthardt Kuehl . His style is based on expressionism . He was a co-founder of the Dresden artist group in 1913 and a member of the German Association of Artists .

Siegfried Mackowsky was a son of the Dresdner banker Franz Mackowsky , who as director of the Saxon Bank was awarded the honorary title of a (royal Saxon) secret councilor . On March 13, 1915, he married Marie Luise Brendler (born June 13, 1893 in Neusalza ), the daughter of a textile manufacturer. They had a daughter.

Some of his works are kept in museums in Leipzig, Dresden and Bautzen.

In 1942 a memorial exhibition was held at the Saxon Art Association in Dresden.
