Siegfried Mundt (born June 24, 1951 ) is a former German soccer player who played second division soccer in the GDR .

Athletic career

Siegfried Mundt was most successful as a junior player for East Berlin's BFC Dynamo. With his youth team he was GDR champion in 1967, and at the age of 18 he won the East Berlin District Cup in 1969 with the third team. With the BFC II he played his first league game in the second-rate GDR league in the 1969/70 season . It remained there in this season, his only use, instead he was a regular player in the 3rd team in the third-rate district league , where he distinguished himself as a successful goalscorer. For the 1971/72 season, Mundt moved to SG Dynamo Fürstenwalde , a branch of the BFC in the GDR league. He stayed there for a season during which he established himself as a regular player. He played 21 of the 22 league games and was successful with five goals. He then returned to the BFC, but until 1974 was only mentioned in the local press in 1972 with his use as a striker in the league team in the test match against Levski Sofia (1: 3).

At the beginning of the 1974/75 season, Mundt joined the GDR league representative Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt . After a hesitant start as a substitute, he won a regular place in the attacking formation from matchday 5 and scored his first league goal for the steel team on matchday 8. In his 18 league appearances, he finally scored four goals. Mundt stayed in Eisenhüttenstadt for three seasons , but was used in midfield by coach Günter Reinke from 1975/76. As such, he continued to be successful as a goalscorer, especially in the 1976/77 season when he was second best scorer from Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt and in the league season B behind Rainer Hornauer (13 goals) with eleven goals.

For the 1977/78 season, Mundt moved to league competitor BSG Chemie PCK Schwedt , the company sports association of the Petrolchemical Combine in Schwedt / Oder . Mundt's hopes of being able to build on the achievements at Eisenhüttenstadt there were not fulfilled. He was also active in Schwedt for three seasons, but was only able to play 22 of the 66 league games during this period due to injury (five in 1977/78, nine in 1978/79 and eight in 1979/80). When he was fit, he was used as a striker, also scored each season and scored a total of seven goals. After the 1979/80 season he ended his career as a competitive footballer at the age of 29.

In his eight GDR league seasons he had made 101 appearances and scored 33 goals.
