Siegfried Tiefensee

Siegfried Tiefensee (born October 20, 1922 in Rastenburg , East Prussia , † March 24, 2009 in Leipzig ) was a German musician and conductor .

Life

Siegfried Tiefensee's father was the sinologist Franz Wilhelm Tiefensee (born April 25, 1880 in Groß Ottenhagen , † August 13, 1934 in Rastenburg).

Siegfried Tiefensee had pursued a career as a musician from his youth. He began taking piano , violin and composition lessons while still at school . He graduated in 1947 with the music education exam, which was followed by the state exam as a conductor in 1951.

He became Kapellmeister at the theaters of Stendal (1951–1954), Gera (1954–1958) and finally in Leipzig (from 1958). There he was active at the " Theater der Junge Welt " as the director of drama music and wrote stage music himself. His numerous compositions include almost 250 stage music, including over 100 for children, youth and puppet theater. Added to this were his settings for television and radio plays, as well as film music . He also created the music for children's ballets. In a number of fairy tale pieces he also used elements of jazz , beat and modern timbres.

With Eberhard Tiefensee (* 1952, philosopher), Wolfgang Tiefensee (* 1955, politician), Volker Tiefensee (* 1956, politician) and a daughter, four children emerged from the Catholic family.
