Siegmund Hegeholz

Siegmund Hegeholz (born May 9, 1959 ) is a German disabled athlete .

Athletic career

Siegmund (Siggi) Hegeholz grew up in the GDR . Despite his severe visual impairment (he is almost blind), he did competitive sports in various disciplines of athletics from his youth . He was particularly successful in the javelin throw , as well as in the disciplines pentathlon , triple jump , shot put , relay race and discus throw . It was already used internationally during the GDR era and won two gold medals in the F 11 performance group at the 1984 Paralympic Summer Games , in the triple jump and in the pentathlon.

After the reunification of Germany, he was a member of the German national team and successfully participated in both world championships and Paralympic summer games.

  • 1990: 2 gold medals (javelin throw, 4 x 100 m relay), 2 silver medals (discus, shot put)
  • 1994, 1998, 1999, 2006 silver medals in javelin throw

Paralympic Games

  • 1992 : 1 gold medal (javelin throw)
  • 2000 : 2 gold medals (javelin, pentathlon)
  • 2004 : 1 silver medal (javelin throw).
