Sigg is a hamlet on the eastern side of the Schrankenbach valley in the Prättigau in Grisons . Together with Cavadura he formed a department of the community of Grüsch before 1876 , but was then defeated with the individual farms in Brand , Riss , Lochji , on the Halde and in the goods at Vordervalzeina , which merged with Hintervalzeina in 1891 , and returned with Valzeina in 2011 to Grüsch. The village had a total of 39 inhabitants in 1860, 32 in 1888. From 1954 to 1971 Sigg ran its own school.

Sigg is documented for the first time in 1516. The origin of the place name is unclear; it has been suggested to trace it back to the Latin (aquale) exsuctu > rätorom. (aval) sitg 'dried out moat' (according to Falzigg ), or in abbreviation from Masigg <* masicca ' Icelandic moss ' (according to Masügg ). Today's settlement goes back to the Walsers who probably immigrated from Danusa .
